Jane did undergraduate work at Hamilton College and in Athens, Greece, majoring in philosophy and ancient Greek studies. She honed her research and writing skills while
studying archaeology at Boston University, and developed a variety of other skills while getting plenty of fresh air and exercise at archaeological sites in England,
France, and the United States.
Jane worked for a high-technology research company in Massachusetts as a technical writer/editor, and independently as an editor and creator of interactive
multimedia programs. She has designed and built Web sites and edited scholarly and technical books and publications about subjects ranging from stone tools to
advanced computer technology.
As an educator, Jane has worked in elementary and high-school special education and taught high-school French. Having lived in England for several years, she is nearly
fluent in standard British English (and less fluent in South Yorkshire English). Jane enjoys swimming and skiing in western Maine, where she lives in a former
one-room schoolhouse.
