She's been writing poetry since she was a young girl, and grew up determined to read all of the classics. Her love of nature led her to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies, but she continued her studies of the written word in graduate school, during which time she became an avid fan of Romanticism, as well as Hermann Hesse and Adalbert Stifter. Karen has been teaching German for nine years and is finishing up her certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She is currently also pursuing a professional certificate in German to English Translation through NYU and is in the process of translating two books. She is an enthusiastic practitioner of yoga, a passionate language learner, and enjoys hiking barefoot, playing the piano and the banjo, Salsa dancing, and learning about health and fitness.
