Essay Editing

Proof Reading, LLC provides professional academic essay editing for undergraduate and graduate college students. Your essay, graduate dissertation, or other academic paper will be edited thoroughly; our professional editors will proofread for grammar, punctuation, and essay flow. They will ensure that your paper is free of common errors such as incorrect word choice or usage, colloquial language, slang, or improper noun-verb agreement. The editor will carefully proofread your document, making certain your thesis statement is stated clearly.

Our proofreaders will offer comments and suggestions to make sure that your document follows a clear path from your thesis statement to your conclusion. Writing a comprehensive essay or research paper can be extremely difficult. It can be challenging to separate yourself from a document that you have spent a quarter or a semester writing. It is essential to have a second pair of eyes look over your paper prior to submission for a final grade.

Proof Reading, LLC will edit your document according to the four major documentation systems used by the majority of U.S. universities (alternate documentation systems can be requested, but you must submit guidelines):

Modern Language Association, 7th edition (MLA):
English and various humanities classes require college essays to follow the Modern Language Association (MLA) system for documenting sources. In-text citations include the author's last name and the page number of the source in parentheses. A works cited list follows the essay; the list is alphabetized by authors' last names.
American Psychological Association, 6th edition (APA):
The majority of social science classes require college term papers to follow the American Psychological Association (APA) system for documenting sources. In-text citations list the author of the source, the publication date, and, in some cases, a page reference/number, all in parentheses. Similar to the MLA system's works cited page, the APA system requires an alphabetized (by authors' last names–or titles for sources without authors) reference list.
Chicago Documentation Style, 15th edition (Chicago):
Many history courses and various humanities classes require essays to follow The Chicago Manual of Style. This documenting system involves the use of either footnotes or endnotes. A bibliography usually is mandatory and appended to the end of the academic essay. This documentation system is more cumbersome than either the APA or MLA system.
CSE Style: Biology and Other Sciences (Formerly “CBE Numbering System”):
The Council of Science Editors (CSE), formerly known as the Council of Biology Editors, has created a standard documentation system for scientific papers. The documentation system relies on a numbering scheme. Each source is given an in-text number; a reference list at the end of the scientific paper provides publication information. The list of references is placed in the order in which each source appears in the document.

Document security is very important to clients of Proof Reading, LLC. Documents and credit card information are encrypted upon transmission with the latest technology. Proof Reading, LLC uses a Verisign 256-bit SSL certificate during document submission. Documents are destroyed after 30 days to protect the intellectual property of the client.

Your document is edited using the Microsoft Word Track Changes feature, which is a standard tool installed in current versions of Microsoft Word. This Microsoft component allows you to quickly accept all changes proposed by the editor or accept corrections individually. Comments and suggestions, which are listed in the right hand margin or at the bottom of your document, depending on how your version of Word is set up, are easy to identify and read.
